CRIME PREVENTION
CPTED
CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design , or CPTED (pronounced sep-ted), is based on a
theory that The physical environment can be manipulated to produce behavioral effects that will
reduce crime.  "These behavioral effects can be accomplished by reducing the propensity of the
physical environment to support criminal behavior" TIMOTHY CROWE).  Basically put, the proper
design and effective use of the built environment can lead to the reduction in the incidence and fear of
crime and thereby improve the quality of life.  In other words, if a site is laid out well, the likelihood
of it being targeted for a crime may be reduced.

CPTED provides principles for planning and designing safe structures and communities as well as
improving safety measures of existing structures and developments.

Valhalla Security Training & Consulting Inc can provide you with recommendations to improve the
security of your planned or existing structure.  We utilize mechanical barriers such as lighting, alarms,
locks, fencing.  We also utilize natural barriers such as plants, landscape plan and natural
surveillance.  Using both types of features in the planning can allow us to provide you with the most
effective security plan without turning your property into a "fortress".

An added feature to our security survey is our "Property Guard Recording System" where we record
and photograph important identifying information for your most vulnerable possessions.  We provide
you with a copy and keep a copy for you on file at our office.

Contact Us and we will come to your property and give you a free estimate for a consultation.  We
can help you implement these principles into your existing architectural plan or at your existing site or
    home.
