    are no simple solutions.  Gang members can be any age, race or nationality.  Gang crimes can range from graffiti and
    petty larceny to murder.  Gangs can be loose groups of youths to complex criminal organizations dealing in guns,
    drugs and stolen property.   

    Prevention strategies in conjunction with enforcement strategies are needed to address the factors that contribute
    to gang problems in communities across America.  A pro-active approach to this issue will likely have the most impact.

David was the Keynote speaker at the recent NAACP safe neighborhoods conference in
Seattle, WA
David has been in law enforcement for over 15yrs.  Born in Mexico and raised in Southern California, David grew up dealing
with street gangs in his neighborhood.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1988 and served in the Middle East during operation desert shield/desert storm.
 After receiving his honorable discharge David was hired as a commissioned police officer in 1993.  

David has served as a patrol officer, SWAT team member, major crimes detective, and gang investigator.  He is currently
assigned as a gang resistance, education and training (GREAT) coordinator.  Due to his unique life and police experience
David was key participant in the creation and implementation of a gang enforcement unit of a large central Washington
police department.  As a  gang enforcement officer He has been involved in numerous investigations involving gang crimes
ranging from graffiti to serious assaults and homicides.  David has given many presentations and classes in regards to
addressing gang issues.  He has taught hundreds of children about the dangers of gangs through the GREAT program and
has been invited to speak at several community events relating to gang issues..  He has received training and certification in:
